Know what the AI knows. Know what it does. Stay in control. Promote:Global uses AI to help you understand markets, prepare projects and work with your own records. It does not decide anything for you. It does not approve transactions. It does not replace an official source. This page describes what the product does today. The limits below are built into the system, not just written here.

Meridian is one assistant you can reach from several places. It answers, drafts and suggests. It never acts on its own.

AI proposes. You decide.
Meridian may suggest a next step, draft some text or recommend an option. You decide whether to accept it, edit it or ignore it.
You ask. Nothing happens until you do, and opening a screen never spends an AI action. The exception is an organization’s weekly brief, which can prepare up to three drafts a week for its staff to review and sends none of them.
Meridian answers, and shows its sources where we have them.
Nothing joins your project until you save it. A suggestion you ignore changes nothing.
What AI can see
What Meridian uses depends on where you ask. It may use your company profile, your products, your markets, your projects and the goals you set for them, documents it may use, information shared with you, public trade data, and sources it looks up for that question.
It does not see everything. Meridian sees what you can see. It follows your permissions and never widens them. This matters most when an advisor works with a client, or an agency works with a company on its roster.
Each document decides for itself. A document, a compliance file or a Knowledge item has a switch, “Let Meridian use this”, and Meridian uses its contents only while the switch is on, and only for the people the document is for. In a company the switch starts on, for the company’s own questions, and anyone at the company can turn it off. An agency, a chamber, an advisory firm or a service provider chooses for each document it files, and its choice reaches the audience the document is for. A published document past its expiry date is no longer used. Whatever the switch says, a document’s title can appear where Meridian lists what you hold.
An organization’s Meridian never uses a company’s files: not ones the company shared with it, sent to it, or gave it a project to see. Its people can open what they were given; their assistant cannot use it. A copy you send carries no Meridian access at all. The same holds for a copy of a document your company sends in answer to an organization’s request: no Meridian uses it, the asking organization’s included, and your own original keeps its own switch.
The apps never hold a key to an AI provider and never contact one directly. Every AI request goes through our servers.

Promote:Global has six kinds of account, and Meridian answers each one as itself. In every case it works only from what that account can already see.

A company’s Meridian can also use what organizations published to it with Meridian on: Global documents, which reach everyone; Members documents from a chamber or an agency it is connected to, or a program it is in, which reach the service providers in those programs too; and Clients documents from a provider or a firm it works with. An agency’s, a chamber’s, a firm’s or a provider’s Meridian can use Global documents as well.
Which of these you are is settled by your account, not by what you type. You cannot ask Meridian to treat you as something else, and it will not assume. If your role is unclear, it answers with less rather than more.

Some decisions stay with people. Promote:Global’s AI does not:
- approve or decline financing
- make credit, KYC, anti-money-laundering or sanctions decisions
- make a binding customs or tariff determination
- decide legal or tax compliance
- commit you to an introduction, or send one for you
- publish a change to your project without your approval
- override your sharing permissions
- use one company’s files to answer anyone outside that company
- speak for a government agency
On the financier console this is not just policy. The server sends this sentence with the answer: “Meridian does not make credit, KYC, AML, sanctions or guarantee decisions.”

An answer separates what Promote:Global holds from what Meridian worked out. The last one matters most:
- Promote:Global data (already held in the platform)
- Your own records (what you or your organization entered)
- Your documents (files Meridian may use, named with who published them and when)
- External sources (retrieved for that question, with the date they were read)
- AI inference (an interpretation by Meridian, not a fact we hold)
An inference is never shown as something Promote:Global knows.

AI can misread a question. It can work from incomplete information. It can rely on a source that has since changed. It can assume something you did not say. It can state something wrong clearly enough to sound right. It can miss a change in law, tariffs or regulation.
Confirm anything that matters with the relevant authority or a qualified professional. Trade, customs, legal, tax and financing decisions all matter.

| Does asking Meridian teach it anything? | No. Nothing you ask trains Meridian or changes what it knows for anyone else. For you, it can bring a few of your recent questions into a new answer, so a follow-up is understood as one, and it reads your records and any goal you set at the moment you ask. Nothing is learned from the asking. |
| What reaches the AI provider? | Your question, the conversation it is part of, and the records the feature needs to answer it, which can include a goal you set, passages from documents Meridian may use, and a few of your recent questions in the same workspace. To read a document Meridian may use, a picture of each of its scanned or photographed pages, one page at a time, and its passages, so they can be searched. To pick out the number, dates, parties and other details printed on a document Meridian may use, up to the first 12,000 characters of its text. To answer a question about how one of its pages looks, such as whether it is stamped or signed, a picture of that page, at most two pages for one answer, and nothing of the look is kept. To suggest a file’s details, up to the first 6,000 characters of the file, once, and nothing of it is kept. Nothing is sent that the feature does not use. |
