2. What to look into next
Our reading
Extractive lines (natural gas and other petroleum gases, crude oil and refined petroleum products) make up about 94% of Algeria’s goods exports, so the totals mostly describe that trade. For another product, look at demand for your own line, market by market.

3. Trade agreements
What each arrangement can mean for a seller, and its limits. A preference is conditional: check the rules of origin before you quote.
Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement between Algeria and the European Union
Algerian industrial goods enter the European Union without customs duty if they meet origin rules, and farm and fish goods get cuts or quotas.
The European Commission started dispute settlement in 2024 over Algerian import and investment restrictions and asked for an arbitration panel on 16 July 2025.

African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
Algerian goods that meet AfCFTA origin rules get reduced tariffs in member states that have launched application, under each importer’s schedule.
Preference depends on the importing country’s schedule; check the AfCFTA eTariff before you quote. The date is when Algeria began applying the agreement.
Source: Algerian customs, AfCFTA page (in French) (opens in a new tab) · as of October 30, 2026
Greater Arab Free Trade Area (Arab trade facilitation and development convention)
Algerian goods that meet Arab origin rules can enter member states with trade preferences, backed by a chamber-issued certificate of origin.
The certificate is in Arabic, valid six months and stamped by customs; the Arab free trade area does not cover every Arab country.
Source: Algerian customs, Arab free trade area (in French) (opens in a new tab) · as of October 30, 2026
Accord commercial préférentiel Algéro-Tunisien
Customs lists Tunisia among the territories where Algerian goods need a proof of origin to claim tariff preferences.
Customs publishes only Tunisian-origin product lists for imports; confirm the preference Tunisia applies to Algerian goods before you quote.

Algeria–Jordan trade cooperation convention
Goods of Algerian or Jordanian origin traded directly are exempt from duties and similar charges, except items on the annexed list.
Origin needs at least 40 percent local value, and the certificate comes from the chamber and is stamped by customs.

AGOA
Algerian goods do not get duty-free entry under AGOA, the United States' trade preference program for eligible African countries.
AGOA covers sub-Saharan African countries only, and the Federal Register notice of 30 June 2026 does not list Algeria.
Source: Federal Register notice 2026-13177, 30 June 2026 (opens in a new tab) · as of June 30, 2026
European Union Generalised Scheme of Preferences
Algerian goods use the association agreement instead of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences.
The European Commission says Algeria stopped benefiting from the scheme in 2014 because it already had preferential access.

Developing Countries Trading Scheme
Algerian goods that meet the scheme's origin rules can enter the United Kingdom at its enhanced preference tariffs.
Rules-based preference, not unconditional market access; check the United Kingdom tariff for your product before you quote.
